Inside the Geneva Fall Auctions
Icons, Prototypes, and Future Legends
Fall auction season snuck up on me this year. It feels like I just wrapped up WatchTime NYC, Marteau & Co.’s debut sale, and Monaco Legend Group’s October auction—and suddenly, Geneva catalogs are live. There’s a lot to look at, and plenty to be excited about.
The Rhythm of Auction Season
Auction season generally runs in two phases. Spring follows Watches & Wonders, with sales in Geneva, Hong Kong, and New York. The same cycle repeats in early November for Geneva, late November for Hong Kong, and early December for New York. Phillips, Sotheby’s, and Christie’s headline the season, with Antiquorum also in Geneva and Ineichen in Zurich. Monaco Legend Group, as the name suggests, is based in Monaco.
This year I’m focused on Geneva, Hong Kong, and New York for the big three. U.S. tariffs will likely affect bidding behavior, reducing participation from American collectors in Geneva and Hong Kong. Still, I expect strong demand for the December New York sales, since watches sold there won’t incur tariffs.
Before diving into the Geneva catalogs, let’s take a quick look at Marteau & Co.’s First Strike and Monaco Legend Group’s October sale.
